Froodie’s Throw Progress

There hasn’t been a whole heck of a lot of progress on this since I’ve gone back to college.

Button’s rates it highly however.

Whereas Jasmine approves of my stash containers.

School tomorrow!

Such a relief!

If these holidays were to continue much longer then this household would surely become night owls.

Plus, this crafter would probably end up with repetitive strain injury from knitting overindulgence.

I’ve been frogging.

The yarn in the picture should look familiar to you as it has been used, among others, to create the Log Cabin Throw along with a slouchy hat which I don’t appear to have blogged about.

These pockets are a mother to frog

Any old how, this yarn came to me via a former neighbour of mine.

There’s life in it yet and it would be a shame to throw it out.

It does take a goodly amount of patience to frog the yarn from the garment.

Upcycling and recycling for the win though.

This lovely mustard is one of several colourways included in the vintage yarn stash.

It is Aran Double Knitting Sunbeam Pure New Wool.

Made in the Republic of Ireland by Sunbeam, Millfield, Cork.

Shade 81 B Dye No. 2157

A similar mustard yarn from the stash has been incorporated into Froodie’s throw.

It’s the strip of rather vivid looking mustard at the bottom of the throw.

Honestly, it’s not quite that bright in real life.

With regard to Sedgemoor, I seem to have turned a corner with following the pattern.

All of the border is done now and I’ve gone onto the body of the back.

*happy dance*

Endings & Beginnings

Happy New Year!

Right, now that’s out of the way onto the knitting!

…..and, um, some crochet. Ahem.

The works-in-progress which remain outstanding from 2011 and which are cast off & merely awaiting assembly or a finishing touch are:

The Smoothie Tee & Knit Kit.

The Tee just needs some single crochet worked around the neckline.

That will be a snap just as soon as I can find my 4.5mm crochet hook. It’s around here……somewhere…….

Whereas the Knit Kit requires some sewing and assembly. As well as the addition of a button & a loop (I think).

Still in hearty progress is Froodies Throw.

The handwarmers I began to balance out the crochet have been in hiatus, apart from an extra row yesterday, since Thursday (I think, holiday brain has me a bit lost).

Languishing out of sight is Sedgemoor by Amanda Crawford from Issue 12 of The Knitter.

[Thanks to scanning through my previous blog posts for a picture to reuse I realise I've not even added my usual starting point blog post about it. That shall have to be amended.....just not right now.]

This Is Knit was the source of the lovely yarn for Sedgemoor.

A lovely garment and a lovely yarn…..so what’s the frakking hold up?

Charts & errata (corrections) have combined to halt my progress on this project.

It shall get my focused attention later on, well, today actually, once I’ve had several hours sleep. :)

At least I’ve actually cast on for Sedgemoor and know what the article will look like.

Which is scant more progress than I’ve made on Token Northy’s scarf.

The scarf to be is still just a bunch of balls......

His actual name is Gerry but for the longest time I only knew him as Token Northy from Dan’s blog

Dan’s drinking the fishwater while Gerry gives the thumbs up in the post that I’ve linked to.

So there’s a scarf to be knit. A manly scarf.

Though, truth be told, a sparkly pink feather boa could grace the guy’s neck and still look like a manly accessory.

As I don’t have a pattern & have two lovely yarns in two lovely colours to work with…..I’m kind of swamped with ideas. I’ve cast on and ripped back a couple of times. Overthinking it is the problem.

Maybe I’ll just whip something up while merry on beer. Tis the season for it! :)

May you all have a cosy & warm craft filled year ahead.

Below is a cheeky view of Froodies Throw which very nicely graces my armchair & the Smoothie Tee which, even though it requires a finishing touch, has earned itself brownie points in my book for being comfortable & well fitted.

A cheeky New Year to you all

222 kms…..

That’s how far my current work-in-progress and I travelled today.

Down to Killarney and back.

If you’re down that way and in search of a place to pop into that offers a warm fire, friendly service & a lovely, reasonably priced Shepherd’s Pie then I suggest trying The Snug Bar at Scotts Hotel.  It’s in the town centre. You can’t miss it (famous last words).

Any old how, I spent a lovely hour or so in there enjoying one of the gifts the teen gave me.

I’m loving it. I adore reading the Anita Blake series. Although, thanks to my station manager Martina while we were in Cork for Campus Connections, I’ve discovered that it’s not really suitable material for reading aloud.  :)

When I finished my 1st year exams I purchased ‘Bullet’ as a treat to myself for enduring the joys that exam time brings.

It was my intention to treat myself likewise when I’d finished my 2nd year exams. However, there was always a reason to spend the money on something other than ‘Hit List’.

Yay for the teen buying the parental unit just what was much sought after.

Along with catching up on some time with Anita, I also did a little work on Froodies Throw.

There are 25 rows of treble crochet so far. It’s coming along nicely methinks.

Look what I got! The teen handed it to me, after transferring her birthday make-up into another container, with the words “I thought you could use it for your needles or something”

Squeeeeeee! Storage! Happy days for this crafter. There’s no such thing as too much storage for a crafter y’know.

I’m off to have the last of the trifle. It’s a tough task but I think I’m able for it.
